Problems regarding agriculture in the interior of Suriname:
- Increased pressure on
shifting cultivation due to commercialization of
agricultural products;
- Declined fallow periods
on poor soils;
- Reduced primary forest
resources en soil degradation;
- Increase of diseases and
pests, such as ants infestation.
